Classes raced and results
600 Supersport - 2nd
600 Superbike - Crash
Formula Ultra - 4th
It's 10:00 pm and somehow I've
managed to catch the last ferry home. I am tired, sore, and
in need of a good sleep. It was a tough weekend on the team.
The heat, it was over 105 degrees (40 Celsius) the racing,
and the work took its toll on everyone and our equipment,
but I'm still smiling as we managed to come out of the weekend
relatively unscathed.
Thank Yous!
Don Beck - thanks for your huge efforts. We've been
working hard to get the results and I know we're making huge
progress every weekend. Sorry this weekend was so tough on
you.
James Cyr - thanks for being such an amazing friend
to me. I appreciate all you do.
Jeff & Francie LaMarche - Don't know what to say
really. I can't thank you enough for all your support.
Brad & Julie - thanks for your amazing hospitality
The Zlocks - Again - thanks for everything
Joe
Rocket - for keeping me safe
Tom Young & Pirelli
- thank you
Robbie Burns - A thank you in advance to our team painter
for fixing the bodywork I "scratched" this weekend.
Notes on practice -
The SOUPerbike is baaaaack! Yep, the Zlocks managed to get
the Competition Motors ZX10R back into action and boy did
they build a special bike! I thought it was fast before but
words fail me (for one of the few times in my life) to describe
the sheer velocity this bike produces. It's phenomenal to
say the least.
Race one - 600 Supersport.
I did alright off the line and was in third going into turn
two. With a determined mindset I managed to get by Arron Gwin
to take second place on the first lap. From here it was full
tilt as I pressured Eli for the win. Regrettably I was only
able to keep him honest in this one but in the race we learned
some valuable information for the following day.
Race two - 600 Superbike.
With the previous days lessons we made changes to the bike
to enable me to utilize our strengths just that much more.
Things were looking promising as I managed to take the lead
on the opening lap with some aggressive passes. It wasn't
meant to be however as I asked too much of the front Pirelli
tire on the first lap and lowsided in turn nine. I was extremely
lucky to evade any injury. The riders behind me did a great
job of avoiding me laying in the relative racing line. Thanks
guys! The bike faired quite well with what was mostly cosmetic
damage. All I'm suffering from is a sore left foot (see picture)
and a bruised ego (it can take it) as I've somehow managed
to not crash a bike in over three seasons. Must not have been
pushing hard enough. ;) And the lack of any substantial injury
is yet another testament to the equipment I wear. Joe Rocket
leathers & gloves, Arai helmets and Sidi Boots. Thanks
for keeping me safe guys!
Race three - Formula Ultra
With must be my worst start of the season I saw myself in
eight, or ninth, place going into turn one. I managed to get
by a few of the guys using the horsepower advantage our Superbike
has. Eventually I worked my way to fourth but the three leaders
had checked out leaving me with not much to charge for so
we brought it home just off the podium.
Stay tuned. Our next race is in Portland next
weekend!
